Biomedical Engineering Technology Senior Capstone

BMB 400 serves as the capstone experience for senior biomedical engineering technology students, providing a practical, hands-on opportunity to manage an entire equipment lifecycle project. Students will autonomously navigate the process of identifying a technical need within a simulated healthcare environment, conducting thorough assessments, developing detailed project plans, and implementing solutions for biomedical equipment. This includes equipment selection, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and eventual decommissioning considerations. The course emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, project management, and effective communication through regular progress reports and a comprehensive final project document, preparing graduates for professional roles in diverse technical settings. It reinforces the ethical, safety, and regulatory considerations inherent in biomedical technology.
