Jacob Calhoun

Jacob Calhoun studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Gadsden State Community College from 2001 to 2003. As a laboratory assistant, he supported the electrical instructor and taught PLC I.

From 2003 to 2014, he worked at Addison Automatics as an electronics technician and assistant supervisor. He repaired more than 13,000 automatic-door controllers across over 200 models and completed initial PLC work for prototype projects.

From 2014 to 2020, he managed the electronics department at Belt-Way Scales, repairing circuit boards, testing firmware, and building control boxes. His independent repair work has also included televisions, aircraft power supplies, computers, and other electronic systems.

Jacob entered healthcare technology at Mercyhealth in 2020, progressing through biomedical equipment technician roles while supporting infusion pumps, laboratory equipment, NICU equipment, lasers, patient lifts, ultrasound, X-ray systems, and epidural pumps. His work has received multiple colleague-nominated WOW Awards.

Since February 2025, he has served as a Biomedical Radiology Equipment Specialist I. He is OEM-trained on Siemens Artis Q, Pheno, Cios, and Alpha systems and supports catheterization laboratories and imaging equipment across hospitals and clinics in Rockford and Janesville.

He continues his education through technical training from RSTI, Technical Prospects, GE Healthcare, and other programs. He began a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology at DeVry University in March 2025 and has earned career diplomas in HVACR and appliance repair, along with EPA Section 608 certification.
