Certificate
Commercial Fitness & Exercise Equipment Service Technician
A 12-credit certificate in four courses: treadmill AC drives, elevation motors and running decks, self-powered alternators, eddy current brakes and resistance systems, strength machines, cable and pulley systems and preventive maintenance, and console electronics, heart rate telemetry and networked fitness diagnostics. Coursework is vendor-neutral. It prepares you for industry practice and does not by itself grant any license or agency certification.

Curriculum
Term 2
Self-Powered Generators, Eddy Current Braking, and Resistance Systems
This course delivers comprehensive technical instruction on the electro-mechanical principles, operation, and troubleshooting of commercial self-powered generator systems and eddy current brakes. Students learn to systematically diagnose, service, and calibrate electromagnetic resistance mechanisms, power storage components, and drive interfaces commonly found in commercial stationary cycles, cross-trainers, and rowers.
Commercial Strength Equipment Mechanics, Cable Systems, and Preventive Maintenance
This course provides technical training in the mechanical principles, structural inspection, and maintenance protocols required for commercial selectorized and plate-loaded strength equipment. Students master cable assembly fabrication, pulley alignment, weight stack servicing, and comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules to ensure facility safety and equipment longevity.
