ATM Architecture, Physical Security Enclosures, and Power Systems
This foundational course equips prospective field service technicians with the practical skills required to install, diagnose, and maintain the structural framework and power distribution subsystems of automated cash handling machines. Students examine the modular design of automated teller cabinets, tracing power pathways from facility alternating-current mains through uninterruptible power systems to multi-rail direct-current regulation modules. The curriculum details physical security structures, including reinforced safes, hardened boltwork mechanisms, automatic relocking assemblies, and electronic combination lock interfaces. Emphasis is placed on electrical safety protocols, proper earthing and grounding techniques, thermal management systems, and tamper-detection switch integration. Through structured diagnostic methodologies and realistic mechanical troubleshooting scenarios, technicians master the disassembly, alignment, and preventative maintenance protocols necessary to sustain uptime. Laboratory exercises develop operational proficiency in power rail load testing, lock servicing, and chassis remediation, preparing technicians to support complex retail and financial hardware deployments safely and efficiently.
