Broadcast RF Transmitters and STL Links
BAV 110 delves into the core components and systems critical for over-the-air broadcasting, preparing students for technical roles in broadcast engineering. The curriculum covers the fundamental theory of radio frequency generation and amplification, modulation techniques specific to FM and television, and the architecture of complete transmitter chains, including exciters and final power amplifiers. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to understanding Studio-Transmitter Link (STL) technologies, both analog and digital, which bridge content from the studio to the transmission site. Emphasis is placed on practical troubleshooting methodologies, preventive maintenance, and adherence to RF safety standards. Through a blend of theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory exercises, students will develop the competencies required to install, maintain, and diagnose issues in modern broadcast transmission environments.
