Image Quality Testing, Preventive Maintenance and Safety
This Anode Technical Institute course uses publicly available information and general engineering principles to teach ultrasound quality assurance, preventive maintenance, and safety. Students examine phantom testing methods, image quality trends, and applicable AIUM and ACR quality assurance guidance while distinguishing technician responsibilities from clinical and medical physics oversight. Safety topics include probe inspection, transducer leakage testing, and equipment electrical safety testing using suitable instruments and manufacturer-specified methods and limits. Preventive maintenance instruction covers inspection, cleaning and disinfection compatibility, performance verification, and documentation without relying on proprietary service access. Practical exercises emphasize repeatable measurements, recognition of unsafe conditions, escalation, and records that support applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements. Anode is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by Philips or Medtronic, this course is not factory training, and students must follow current manufacturer service documentation and facility procedures.
