Medical Gases and Supply Systems
MGV 101 provides a comprehensive overview of the essential medical gases and vacuum systems found in healthcare facilities. The curriculum covers the physical and chemical properties of common medical gases, safe handling and storage of high-pressure cylinders, and the operational mechanics of various manifold systems, both high-pressure and cryogenic. Students will also explore the design and function of bulk liquid gas systems, air compressors, and vacuum pumps. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to understanding and applying the relevant safety standards and regulations, particularly those outlined in the primary healthcare facility safety code. Through a blend of theoretical instruction, practical demonstrations, and hands-on lab exercises, students will develop the foundational knowledge and skills required for effective service and maintenance of these vital medical support infrastructures.
