O-arm Gantry, X-ray Tube, Detector and Mechanical Systems

This course examines how mechanical motion, X-ray generation, detector acquisition, and electrical distribution work together in the Medtronic O-arm surgical imaging system. Students study gantry structure, opening-ring interfaces, positioning mechanisms, and general principles of alignment, interlocking, and motion control. Coverage of the X-ray tube, generator, flat-panel detector, and collimation connects subsystem function with image quality and common categories of performance degradation. Power distribution and cabling topics emphasize protective grounding, connector condition, cable routing, and safe isolation of hazardous energy. Guided labs and a capstone use simulations, de-energized inspection exercises, and documentation-based troubleshooting, with students directed to follow the manufacturer's service documentation for all system-specific procedures. Anode Technical Institute is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by Medtronic or Philips, and this course is not factory training.
