NFPA 70E Electrical Safety & Arc Flash
SAF 101 is a 10-lesson online course designed for electrical technicians who work on or near energized equipment. The course covers core NFPA 70E concepts including shock and arc-flash hazard recognition, approach boundaries, incident energy and risk assessment methods, arc-rated PPE categories, and the process for establishing an electrically safe work condition (ESWC). Learners practice test-before-touch procedures and proper use of CAT III/IV rated meters for safe voltage verification. Two bench-based simulated labs reinforce boundary identification, lockout/tagout, and testing skills in a controlled, safe environment. The course concludes with a capstone assignment requiring learners to apply risk assessment and safety planning principles to a realistic electrical work scenario.
