Diagnostic X-Ray Repair Technician
An 24-credit certificate for technicians who install, calibrate, and repair diagnostic radiographic equipment. Covers radiation physics and safety, high-voltage power, generators and tubes, CR/DR image receptors, quality assurance testing, and the records regulators expect. The last two courses cover advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics, then inspection, regulations and compliance.

Radiation Physics & Safety
X-ray production physics, interaction with matter, ALARA, shielding, dosimetry, and personnel monitoring for service technicians.
Electronics & High-Voltage Systems for Imaging
Power distribution, high-voltage transformers, rectification, cable and tank service, and safe discharge procedures.
Term 2
X-Ray Generators, Tubes & Exposure Control
Generator topologies, tube construction and rating charts, AEC circuits, kVp/mA/time calibration and tube conditioning.
Image Receptors, Digital Radiography & Detectors
CR and DR receptors, flat-panel detector construction, image chain troubleshooting, artifacts, and detector calibration.
Term 3
Calibration, Quality Assurance & Preventive Maintenance
kVp/mAs accuracy, HVL, timer and AEC testing, collimation and alignment, PM scheduling and test tools.
Regulations, Documentation & Field Service
FDA and state regulations, service records, DICOM basics, field service workflow, and the certification exam review.
Term 4
Advanced Troubleshooting and Board-Level Diagnostics
This advanced course equips diagnostic X-ray service technicians with expert-level troubleshooting and board-level diagnostic skills for complex imaging systems. Students will master systematic fault isolation, component-level repair decisions, and service documentation adherence.
Inspection, Regulations and Compliance
This course provides essential knowledge and practical skills for ensuring diagnostic X-ray system compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. Students will learn about inspection methodologies, documentation requirements, and incident management critical for service technicians.
