Certificate

Dialysis Machine Service Technician

A 12-credit certificate for technicians who service hemodialysis machines and water treatment systems. You start with renal physiology, dialysis principles and the treatment prescription, so every machine function has clinical context. Then you work through the hemodialysis machine itself: blood pump and heparin systems, dialysate proportioning, mixing and degassing, conductivity and pH control, transmembrane pressure and ultrafiltration control, safety sensors and alarms. Next comes water treatment: backflow prevention, pretreatment, reverse-osmosis membranes and pumps, distribution loops, water quality monitoring and AAMI standards. The final course covers chemical and heat disinfection, conductivity verification, flow and pressure calibration, leak testing, electrical safety and preventive maintenance documentation. Coursework is vendor-neutral.
