Medical Laser Equipment Service Technician

A 15-credit certificate for technicians who service medical lasers. You start with laser physics, tissue interaction, hazard classes and laser safety practice. Three system courses follow: surgical lasers (CO2, Nd:YAG, holmium and diode, with fiber and articulated-arm delivery), aesthetic and dermatology systems (hair removal, IPL, resurfacing, vascular and pigment lasers), and ophthalmic lasers (excimer, femtosecond, photocoagulators and slit-lamp delivery). The final course covers power and energy measurement, beam alignment, interlock and electrical safety testing, systematic fault finding and service documentation. Coursework is vendor-neutral.
