Healthcare Technology Operation & Troubleshooting

This Anode Technical Institute course connects the operating principles of essential healthcare technologies with practical biomedical equipment troubleshooting. Students examine functional blocks, sensors, control systems, alarms, accessories, and common failure modes across patient monitoring, infusion, ventilation, defibrillation, electrosurgery, and imaging equipment. A structured symptom-to-fault approach emphasizes verifying reported problems, distinguishing setup and accessory issues from equipment faults, and selecting appropriate test methods. Hands-on labs use simulations or training equipment removed from clinical service to practice safe fault isolation, performance verification, and documentation. Midterm review and a capstone project reinforce electrical safety, infection prevention, escalation decisions, and return-to-service requirements using applicable procedures and standards. The course supports preparation for the AAMI-awarded CBET credential through original instructional activities; Anode Technical Institute is not affiliated with or endorsed by AAMI.
